Austria GDP Growth at Fresh 4-Year Low
Austria’s GDP expanded 0.2 percent on quarter in the three months to September 2019, the same as the downwardly revised figure in the previous period and less than market expectations of a 0.3 percent advance, flash estimates showed. It was the lowest GDP growth since Q1 2015. Household consumption (0.2 percent vs 0.3 percent in Q2) and gross fixed capital formation (0.2 percent vs 0.3 percent) slowed while government expenditure rose 0.2 percent, after showed no growth in Q2. Also, net foreign demand contributed positively to growth, as exports climbed 0.7 percent (vs 0.6 percent in Q2) and imports went up at a slower 0.6 percent (vs 0.8 percent). Year-on-year, the GDP grew 1.5 percent, slowing from an upwardly revised 1.8 percent expansion in Q2. That is the lowest annual GDP growth since the third quarter of 2016.

Austria GDP Growth Confirmed at 4-Year Low
Austria’s GDP expanded 0.3 percent on quarter in the three months to June of 2019, easing from an upwardly revised 0.5 percent advance in the previous period and in line with earlier estimates. It was the lowest growth rate since Q1 2015, as both household consumption (0.4 percent vs 0.5 percent in Q1) and fixed capital formation (0.5 percent vs 1 percent) slowed. Meantime, government expenditure showed no growth, after declining 0.1 percent in Q1 and net foreign demand contributed positively to growth, as exports rose 0.5 percent (vs 0.8 percent in Q1) while imports went up at a softer 0.4 percent (vs 0.6 percent). Year-on-year, the GDP grew 1.5 percent, slowing from an upwardly revised 2 percent expansion in the previous quarter and below preliminary estimates of 1.7 percent.

Austria's economy advanced 0.3 percent on quarter in the three months to June of 2019, slowing from a 0.4 percent growth in the prior period, the preliminary figures showed. This was the slowest expansion since Q1 2015, as gross fixed capital formation advanced at a softer pace (0.5 percent vs 0.8 percent in Q1). Meanwhile, government spending rose faster (0.3 percent vs 0.2 percent) while private consumption increased at the same pace (0.5 percent). Regarding net trade, exports went up 0.5 percent (from 0.9 percent in Q1) while imports rose at a slower 0.4 percent (from 0.7 percent in Q1). Year-on-year, the GDP grew 1.7 percent, accelerating from an upwardly revised 1.5 percent gain in the previous quarter.

Austria’s gross domestic product expanded 0.4 percent on quarter in the three months to December of 2018, the same pace as in the previous period and in line with earlier estimates. Private consumption (0.4 percent from 0.3 percent in Q3) rose faster and government spending went up 0.1 percent, after showing no growth in Q3. On the other hand, fixed investment slowed (0.4 percent from 0.7 percent). Meanwhile, net trade contributed positively to growth, as exports climbed 0.7 percent (from 0.8 percent in Q3) and imports increased at a softer 0.6 percent (the same as in Q3). Year-on-year, the economy grew 2.4 percent, slightly higher than preliminary estimates of 2.3 percent and compared with a 2.2 percent expansion in Q3. Considering 2018, the economy expanded 2.7 percent, higher than a 2.6 percent gain in 2017.
